Gerenuk (Litocranius walleri)

Gerenuk (Litocranius walleri) (Enlarge)

Taken in Tsavo West National Park, Kenya, in February 2010.

The gerenuk is also known as the Waller's Gazelle or the Giraffe-necked Antelope. They have very small heads and long necks, allowing them to eat higher leaves. They get all the water they need from leaves, so can live in dry climates.
