The mute swan (Cygnus olor) is native to Europe and Asia, although it is more closely related to swans in South America and Australia than other Eurasian species. Swans average 12kg weight with a 220cm wingspan. They are monogamous and often reuse the same nest each year. They are usually territorial, but are colonial when the habitat is very good.
